A state-of-the-art facility located on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, the Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, outpatient preventive health care through the Small Animal Community Practice, and referral services to practitioners in Virginia, Maryland, and surrounding states.

Anesthesia
  • If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, contact the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at 540-231-4621.
  • Clients whose pets are patients of the Small Animal Community Practice service should call 540-231-4621.
  • For emergencies occurring after 5 p.m. and before 8 a.m., call 540-231-4621 to reach the hospital's emergency answering service. Your call will be directed to the "emergency on-call" veterinarian.

Small Animal Patient Receiving
  • All patients are seen by appointment only.
  • Small animal appointments are scheduled Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 540-231-4621.
  • Appointments for preventive care can be made by clients who use our Small Animal Community Practice service for primary veterinary care.
  • Appointments for specialized services (non-preventive care) are available to clients referred by their primary care veterinarian. The referring veterinarian must send a written history with the client. When the appropriate service coordinator has received the referral information, the client will be contacted to schedule an appointment.
